Japanese Brushes

A Japanese brush manufactured by Kyoto craftsmen with great care. There are various types of brushes such as Noribake brushes, Tsukemawashi brushes, Nazebake brushes, Mizubake brushes, Shigokibake brushes, Dosabake brushes, and Uchibake brushes. We also have " Stencil Brush", " Drawing Brush" and "Maintenance brush".

Our " Karibari" is a very light ( 90cm X 180cm size, about 4 kg ) durable and economical work board that uses styrene foam as the core material. Since the surface material is a specially processed fabric, the remaining paper and glue can be easily peeled off by moistening it with water after peeling off the temporary paste.

Jikusaki – Zouge Daiyou (Ivory substitute)

These "Jikusaki" made of resin as a substitute for ivory. Takuboku – Hanging string for hanging scroll

The special strings used for hanging scroll are generally collectively called "Takuboku". It is derived from the method of knitting the Sanada string called Takuboku assemble. In addition to the general two-color and three-color weaves for hanging scroll , we also have various plain color strings.

A bobbin roll is a product made by winding 150 ⅿ of Takuboku. In hanging scrolls, Muji (plain fabrics) are offen used to make art or calligraphy work to stand out. We have " Manshou kire", " Kodai Shike" and "Men Shinapar" depend on material in our catalogue. "Shike" incorporates raw silk threads which gives it a unique character. " Men Shinapar" is a supple thin fabric with few warps and no irregularities.

Uwamaki・Eginu (Silk for picture/hanging scroll)

This Uwamaki-Silk is the silk that is used for the upper part that can be seen on the front when the hanging roll wound, and it protects and decorates the wound hanging from rubbing. Momi Kami (Rubbed Paper)

Rubbed paper is made by applying two layers of pigment and gold and silver mud in different colors, and the color of the lower layer appears in the upper layer (crack) that was rubbed and removed to form a pattern. Yamato Rayon Paper is a processed paper made from rayon and is mainly used for the curing scrolls. Both wash-curing paper and Shin-Yamato paper are used for curing when washing main paper like painting & writing work . Persimmon astringency Paper

Persimmon astringency contains a large amount of tannin, which is absorbed by the fiber of paper and converted into an insoluble substance, resulting in water resistance and antiseptic action. The property of allowing air to pass through but not water to pass through is useful, and it is used for paper mold and Karibari (drying panel) for the work of making hanging scrolls.

Japanese Writing Paper & Chinese Xuan Paper

There are hemp paper & Japanese painting paper made in Echizen Japan, and Xuan paper made in China. Hemp paper is the finest Japanese paper made by the holder of an important intangible cultural property.

Tengujyou

One of the thinnest Japanese tissues that began to be squeezed in Mino (Gifu Prefecture). Today, it is mainly made in Tosa (Kochi Prefecture) and is mainly used for restoration and lining of works of art and packaging of valuables.

Lacquer Filter Paper (Hon-Yoshino-kami, Shin-Yoshino kami)

Kinsha・Yakutaishi・Usuyou Youkin hiraoshi

"Kinsha" is a Japanese paper made by sprinkling gold leaf and silver leaf on thin mechan-made paper and is used for the upper part of scrolls. " Yakutai shi" is a paper used to wrap medicine like letters, and is used for hanging scroll. " Usuyou Youkin Hiraoshi" is a very thin machine-made paper with Brass gold leaf attached. Nishinouchi kami

It is said that Deputy General Mr. Mitsukuni Mito in Edo era named the " Nishinouchi" paper because it started to be made in Nishinouchi, Ibaraki prefecture, and it is also called Hyakujho paper. It is 100% handmade Kozo paper, and was used for merchant notebook and ballots in the old days, but nowadays it is used exclusively as a Japanese traditional tea room and a memorial paper because it is expensive washi paper.

Minato Kami

It was named Minato Kami because it began to be made in Minato of Sakai, Osaka. Today, it is mainly made in the Echizen region. It is mainly used for the traditional Japanese tea rooms together with Nishinouchi and the underlaying of sliding doors.

Sukiiro Kami (Yamato Mingeishi)

It is Echizen (Fukui prefecture) washi paper made by stubbornly following the traditional manufacturing method. It is a handmade washi paper with a solid warmth and taste. We have collected 33 colors. It can be used for various purposes such as waist sticking, wall covering, and shoji paper.

Maniai gami

Maniai gami is a high-quality paper mixed with unique soil that can only be collected from Najio, Hyogo Prefecture, and its advanced technology is still inherited. There is a blue type made of mitsumata and pulp with blue soil (kabuta soil) used for the lining of fusuma, and a white type made of domestic ganpi with white soil (Higashikubo soil) used for the lining of fusuma. Bunko shi (Tatou shi)

Kasuiri Kami & Kozo Kawairi Kami

The black skin of mulberry is called dregs, and This paper is mixed and strained it . The skin of mulberry is sometimes called dust, and in that case it is also called dust paper. It used to be used for wrapping paper, but nowadays it is used for various purposes because of its simple taste.

Doubari

Doubari paper is a paper that reinforces the entire bone base by reinforcing it as if it were lined with fusuma or folding screen. For high-class fusuma and folding screens, weakly pulled paper like Maniai paper and Minato paper were used, but nowadays, Wamp (recycled paper colored with navy blue is used as a popular product. Hon-Sekishu Paper

" Sekishu Banshi" has been registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is a Japanese paper made in the area of Iwami (Iwami region) in the western part of Shimane prefecture. Currently, only the four Chosen Craftsman made by the " Sekishu" Japanese paper cooperative are recognized as " Sekishu Banshi" paper. The raw material is Kozo(mulberry), Mitsumata, Ganpi, and Tororoaoi (Abelmoschus manihot) for Neri. It is finely lustrous and yet tough. It is the highest quality product used for underlaying cultural properties.

Sekishu Daiyou (Sekishu substitute)

It is a machine-made Sekishu substitute paper used as a lining paper for Fusuma (sliding doors) and Byoubu (folding screens) . Quality and price vary depending on raw materials and raw material composition.

Junkizuki

This is 100% Kozo (mulberry) paper which imitate Hosokawa Washi produced by Hiki-gun, Saitama Prefecture, which has been selected as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.It is also used for sliding doors, folding screen underlays, wallpaper, and restoration overseas.  We have a wide range of thicknesses from 3momme (20g/㎡) to 7 momme (46g/㎡). Ukebarigami

These paper used for fusuma (Sliding door) construction. There are two major type which " Chiri-Uke" made from old paper (mainly news paper) with grey color, and " Cha-Uke" made from Pulp with light brawn color. Both paper is surely necessary paper as the backing paper of " Fusuma", and very economical paper to use for reasonable and economical" Fusuma".

Hon Uda Washi (Hon Uda)

Uda paper for backing of hanging scroll and repair paper of all art painting, which has been made in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture since ancient times, is pure Japanese tissue containing white clay made by crushing limestone in this region. This white clay has effects such as see-through, insect repellent, antioxidant action (burnt prevention), and maintenance of elasticity. In addition, it has a unique finish because it is made with bamboo blinds instead of bamboo blinds. Currently, only papers made in the " Kuzu area" of ​​Yoshino are called Uda paper, Hon Uda, etc., and are distinguished from Uda papers made in other areas. It is the finest Japanese paper used for restoration of cultural properties.

Uda Washi

It is a mainly backing paper used for hanging scroll in Japan. Originally the Uda paper for hanging scroll, which has been made in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture since ancient times, has spread all over the country. Even now, the technology has been handed down. Nowadays, paper manufactured in other production areas and paper for full backing manufactured by machine straining are also generally called Uda paper. Here, we introduce different type of Uda paper which is totally different size and made in Kochi. Even though these paper are handmade by very well-skilled craftsman, the cost is much lower than Hon-Uda made in Yoshino/Nara prefecture.
