Washi for hanging scroll

New Yamato- some (colored Washi paper machine made)

"Shin-Yamato-zome" is a machine-made *hada-uragami (backing paper) developed as an alternative to the traditional handmade washi known as "Yamato-zome." Production of the original "Yamato-zome" had declined due to the aging of the handcraft man, making it impossible to meet customer demand. Like the original, Shin-Yamato-zome is made from 100% *kozo* (mulberry) fiber and utilizes advanced techniques to achieve a beautiful, uniform color free from unevenness. In the field of *hyogu* (traditional Japanese mounting), it is used for backing *uwamaki* (upper scroll sections), and the primary artwork itself (with the paper color matched to the artwork). In recent years, it has also found widespread use as a washi for fine art applications.
