"Somegami" is a type of handmade *washi* paper made from 100% pulp. Because it is pulp-based, it is less durable than varieties like "Yamato-zome" or "Shin-Yamato-zome," which are made from 100% *kozo* (mulberry) fiber; however, it is priced at less than half the cost of those varieties, making it an excellent value choice for applications where high paper strength is not required. The available color range is limited, focusing primarily on the pale yellow (*asagi*) and brown tones commonly used in *hyogu* (traditional Japanese mounting).
