Introducing “Aku-tomeru”, a lye-preventing agent

We’re pleased to introduce “Aku-tomeru,” a lye-stopping enhancer ideal for our beloved “Miyoshino Starch glue” While “Miyoshino Starch glue” already contains a lye-stopping agent, we’ve introduced this new product to provide greater peace of mind when applying shoji screens, sliding doors, wallpaper, and other items to old wooden substrates. Reactive substances (such as calcium lignin) that cause scum, stains, and resin can migrate with the water during the drying process (the process by which moisture migrates to the surface) when a water-rich glue is applied to a wooden substrate, resulting in the appearance of colored scum on the surface. Since scum is attached to anions, mixing it with a cation absorbs the scum and prevents it from rising to the surface. To use, add approximately one tablespoon of “Aku-tomeru” (included spoon) to 3 kg of “Miyoshino Starch glue” and stir well before use. This is sufficient for effective results. This product can also be used with any type of starch-based glue, such as our “Miyabi Nori” and “Azusa Nori.” Please give it a try.
