” Nishinouchi-Paper” & “Minato Paper” for traditional Japanese Tea room

2022 has begun. I would like to continue to announce various product information this year as well.  The first products of this year are “Nishinouchi Paper” and “Minato Paper”. Since last year, we have received many orders for “Nishinouchi Paper” and “Minato Paper” for traditional Japanese tea rooms. The name of Nishinouchi is derived from the fact that it was made in the former Yamagata town area region of Hitachiomiya City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The raw material is mulberry, which became the first special product of the Mito area during the Edo period, and was used as a Daifukucho because of its toughness and excellent storage stability. Our “Nishi no Uchi” paper is handmade from 70% Kozo and 30% high quality pulp in consideration of workability. On the other hand, “Minato Paper” is derived from the relatively low-grade Japanese paper that was made in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, Izumi area in the Edo period, and Minato Village in Sakai. Commonly used colors are navy blue, as well as dark grey, silver grey, and grass green colors. There are different ways to paste the tea room: 1-stage, 1-and-a-half, and 2-stage. The owner side is 1-stage, and the customer side is 1-unit or 1-and-a-half. It seems that there is consideration to prevent the drum of the customer’s kimono from rubbing by sticking the customer side one and a half steps. In the case of a full-fledged tea room, it is a sand wall, so the construction will be done using “Funori”. I don’t have the opportunity to do so, but it would be nice to have a cup of tea in a 2 tatami mat tea room and feel at ease.
